A hunter was fined €2,000 for hunting in a prohibited area in Paphos on Sunday morning.
Games wardens discovered a 42-year-old Limassol resident hunting in a restricted area in the Paphos district at around 10:00 on Sunday morning.
The hunter’s gun, ammunition and two wood pigeons that he had shot were confiscated and handed to the Panagia police station.
Police then handed the42-year-old a €2,000 fine for hunting in a prohibited area.
The fine is in line with the new hunting laws to combat illegal hunting and trapping.
Earlier this month, a 67-year-old caught illegally trapping was slapped with a €21,586 fine
