Illegal Worker Deported After Romance Blunder

An illegal worker’s misguided attempt to impress the object of his affection resulted in him being deported from Cyprus.

On Wednesday a Bangladesh national working in Paphos illegally, used a blade to cut his hand outside the Moutallos home of a woman he was in love with, a domestic worker from Sri Lanka.

Before injuring himself, the man had been calling out for the woman and expressing his love for her.

When he cut his hand, the woman’s employers called the authorities and the man was taken by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital.

Doctors determined he had only slightly injured himself and after giving him first aid, said he could be discharged however police meanwhile had discovered that he had been in Cyprus illegally since 2011.

He was later deported.
