The social media company, Facebook says it is to change the design of its advertising in an attempt to prevent ad-blocking software circumventing its adverts.
In recent years as the growth of internet advertising booms, so has efforts to prevent it.
The firm, founded by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, said more than 66% of users use an ad-blocker because they found adverts disruptive.
Facebook’s latest accounts released in July revealed that more than $6.2bn (€7.2bn) of its revenue from April to June came from advertising so understandably it is keen to preserve this.
Andrew Bosworth, Vice President of adverts for Facebook said that account holders will also be given the chance to control the adverts they see on the site by selecting certain criteria.
